Billing & Payment
We will charge your credit card and/or bank account via Stripe processing on a monthly basis for use of our services. As a Stripe customer, your payment details will be stored and processed by Stripe according to their privacy policy and terms. We do not have direct access to your financial information. You accept all Stripe fees associated with paying your bill. You can find a list of Stripe service fees here. You are responsible for paying all bills incurred through your account. If auto-payment fails due to insufficient funds or an expired/canceled card, your access to either LightningOps or your cloud service provider services may be suspended until payment is successfully processed. If you are part of our cloud organization (e.g., LightningOps AWS Org), we reserve the right to remove you until your bill payment is complete.
Data Collection Permissions for Purpose of Using LightningOps
LightningOps does not use your data to train models or improve our services. LightningOps does not transmit or share your data to any third parties. LightningOps only collects relevant information that is needed to provide core LightningOps services to you.
You agree to grant LightningOps access to relevant cloud billing and usage metadata as described in our IAM Permissions via the use of a Cross-Account Role. You agree to allow LightningOps to purchase and sell cloud compute Reserved Instances (RI) and/or Savings Plans (SP) on your behalf in your own AWS account. You agree to notify LightningOps before purchasing or selling RIs and SPs in your AWS account. If you purchase any RIs or SPs on your own that result in underutilization (wasted spend on RIs or SPs), LightningOps does not assume responsibility to refund you or provide credits for those economic inefficiencies. If you sell any RIs on your own or terminate SPs on your own without LightningOps involvement or notification, and therefore reducing the coverage of on-demand (OD) compute instances, LightningOps is not responsible for your increased cloud compute spend.
When signing up for an account and joining LightningOps' organization, we collect your name, email, phone number, company details, and payment method information to provide our services to you.Payment information, such as credit cards and bank account details, is processed securely by Stripe and is not accessible to LightningOps directly. We only collect cloud compute billing and spend data required to provide our services.
Privacy Policy & Use of Information
We will not share your personal or company information with third parties beyond what is necessary to provide our services, including payment processing. We use the information only to: provide, operate, and improve our services. Send administrative emails and important account notices. Respond to customer inquiries and provide technical support. We take steps to ensure your information is treated securely and in accordance with this policy. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of any data you disclose online. You have the right to update or delete your information by contacting us. For Stripe payment details, you will need to manage those directly through your Stripe account.
Prerequisites for AWS
To allow LightningOps to buy and sell RIs on your behalf to optimize your cloud compute spend, you must take explicit action to register as an AWS RI Marketplace Seller. If you do not register, you can still join the LightningOps organization to benefit from savings, but LightningOps will not be able to fully optimize RI arbitraging on your behalf. Register as an AWS RI Marketplace Seller
Our Rights
We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue service to any customer for any reason. We may update our terms of service at any time without notice. Your continued use of services constitutes acceptance of these terms and any related changes.
LightningOps will credit back to customers any net wasteful spend caused by LightningOps activities. These credits will be applied to offset your future cloud bill. LightningOps is not required to credit any net wasteful spend caused by situations outside of its direct control, including, but not limited to:
- A sudden drop in cloud usage by the customer.
- Cyberattacks affecting the customer’s infrastructure.
- Cloud service provider outages.
- Customers deliberately shutting down large fleets of compute instances.
- Internal application sabotage by the customer.
Any net waste generated within a 72-hour window does not warrant LightningOps credits. This ensures that LightningOps does not overreact to temporary dips in your cloud usage. If we immediately downshifted your cloud resources during a temporary dip, it could result in slower recovery when your cloud consumption rebounds after the 72-hour window. Our long-term approach minimizes over-pivoting to maximize sustained savings.
Most customers are unlikely to experience major cloud usage downsizing that breaks their normal consumption pattern. You are required to notify LightningOps of any expected major downshifts in cloud consumption at least 60 business days in advance. This allows LightningOps to anticipate upcoming changes and optimize your savings strategy accordingly.LightningOps will only offer credits for potential waste generated for exchangeable resources, meaning those that can be traded on secondary markets (e.g., EC2 RIs).
We will not offer credits for overprovisioning of RIs related to specialized compute instances (e.g., RIs for RDS, Redshift, etc.). Nor will we offer credits for unspent SPs.you must notify LightningOps at least 60 business days in advance. This enables us to anticipate the shift and adjust our optimization strategies accordingly.
